What the BSA requires from you

The Building Safety Act 2022 places the obligation to evidence workforce competence on the dutyholder — that is you, the employer. Principal contractors must demonstrate that every individual carrying out safety-critical work is competent, that competence is maintained, and that an auditable record exists. PAS 2035:2023 extends the same principle to publicly funded retrofit. The direction of travel is clear: the right to carry out specific work will depend on evidenced, verified, maintained competence. And most employers have nothing to show.
